A Creative Experience for Young Artists

Every child is creative. At CYS JR, we provide a place where that creativity can grow through hands-on projects, experimentation, and artistic exploration in a real working studio.

CYS JR Creative Labs are six-week creative experiences that introduce young artists to different forms of art, design, photography, technology, and other creative disciplines. Each lab focuses on one creative medium, giving children the opportunity to build new skills, express themselves, and discover how artists bring ideas to life.

Our inaugural Creative Photography Lab invites young artists to explore photography through light painting, creative portraits, visual storytelling, and projection photography. Along the way, they'll work together on imaginative projects, experiment with professional photography equipment, and create original artwork they're proud of.

The experience doesn't end with the final class. At the conclusion of each Creative Lab, every Studio Artist will exhibit their work in the CYS JR Artists' Showcase—a professionally curated public exhibition held at our Long Island City studio. Family, friends, and invited guests are welcome to celebrate the students' accomplishments before each artist takes their exhibited work home.
